ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Macy's is planning to close its downtown St. Paul store, according to sources.
While store officials are not commenting, employees tell KARE 11 that they have been told the store will close sometime in the next few months.
Macy's is expected to make a formal announcement on Thursday about the future of their downtown St. Paul store.
The closing would leave downtown St. Paul without a major department store for the fist time in 130 years.
The City of St. Paul says they will release a statement Thursday morning after Macy's makes an official announcement. A spokesperson for the city says downtown's momentum has been building and the city sees great things ahead for the site.
