ST. PAUL, Minn. - Hamline University men's basketball coach, Nelson Whitmore, has been suspended after a player was accused of punching a woman.
Hamline basketball player Eugene Lawrence was arrested for the alleged assault during a team trip to Spokane, Washington.
According to a statement from the school, Lawrence has been dismissed and suspended from Hamline pending a hearing.
Lawrence is accused of punching a woman in the face at the team hotel on New Year's Eve.
She suffered a broken jaw and eye socket.
Lawrence is charged with second degree assault.
The school has forfeited Saturday's game at Gustavus Adolphus.
14 students could face discipline as well.
