WHITE BEAR LAKE, Minn. - One man is in custody and police are investing the death of a woman found in a White Bear Lake garage Monday afternoon as a homicide.
Police were dispatched to a residence near 8th Street and Cook Avenue around 3 p.m. after the resident of the home told them a woman's body was in his garage. Information gathered on the scene led investigators to a home on the 1400 block of Sheldon in St. Paul. There, they arrested a man who they say was in a "significant relationship" with the 32-year-old victim.
St. Paul Police spokesman Paul Paulos says it appears the victim was killed at the home in St. Paul and dumped at the garage in White Bear Lake. He describes the investigation as complex, saying a cause of death will not be released until the Ramsey County Coroner finishes the autopsy.
"This is a complex situation," Paulos told reporters Tuesday morning, "and we're still very much in the beginning. Investigators continue to work at all leads and all evidence pertaining to this."
Paulos says the 35-year-old suspect has a criminal history, but no record in St. Paul. Charges could come as early as today.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) is helping with the investigation.
