MOORHEAD, Minn. - In this case, it truly is "finders keepers."
Moorhead police say a one-carat diamond found in a parking lot near a Little Caesar's Pizza restaurant hasn't been claimed, so it was recently returned to the person who noticed it and turned it over to police last October.
Appraised at $7,000, the oval diamond has an identification number, but police say the International Gemological Institute confirms the diamond was never registered.
Authorities received some inquiries about the diamond, but the owner could not be found. With no solid leads they decided the anonymous person from Moorhead who found it is now the new owner.
