MINNEAPOLIS - A 14-year-old St. Louis Park girl has died after being hospitalized with the flu last month.

The pastor at Westwood Lutheran Church said that Carly Christenson died on Tuesday afternoon due to complications from influenza.

Christenson had received the flu shot, but that did not prevent her from contracting the virus.

She was treated at the Children's Hospital in Minneapolis.

The Minnesota Health Department has recieved a call about the death. They are still working to confirm that the case is flu-related.

There are four confirmed flu-related deaths in the state this season. This would be the first official case of the flu involving a juvenile this season in Minnesota. The previous case involving a teenager is officially counted in Texas, where the boy was from.
