SHAKOPEE, Minn. - A car fire created delays and significant traffic backups on a busy highway in the south metro Thursday.
It happened on the ramp from Highway 101 northbound to northbound Highway 169. Fire trucks responding to the blaze just before 7:30 a.m. completely blocked the ramp, and police cars also bloacked off all but one lane of 169.
Traffic cams showed cars backed up for miles, until things started loosening up around 7:40 a.m. Vehicles were finally allowed to crawl by the fire trucks at slow speed to get things moving, but backups will persist past the 8 a.m. hour.
