MINNEAPOLIS - The Minneapolis Police Department announced that they arrested 104 drivers in December for driving under the influence.
The arrests were made during a "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" campaign to prevent drunk driving. The campaign was enforced throughout the state, and coordinated by the Department of Public Safety Office of Traffic Safety.
Between 2009 and 2011, drunk driving crashes accounted for 37 deaths and 106 serious injuries in Hennepin County alone. In the same time period, almost 20,000 drivers in the county were arrested for driving while intoxicated.
DPS officials say enhanced DWI campaigns have helped to reduce drunk driving crashes by 40 percent from a decade ago.
