NORTH MANKATO, Minn. - Police in North Mankato say a "high-risk" welfare check resulted in a confirmed death Thursday afternoon.
Around 10:00 a.m., officers conducted the welfare check home in the 1600 block of LorRay Drive. They called it a "high-risk" welfare check because of the possibility firearms were involved.
The first officers on scene decided to call the River Valley Tactical Team. Officers say during the course of the incident, shots were fired and one person was transported to Mayo Clinic Health Systems-Mankato.
Authorities say one person is confirmed dead, though it is unclear who has died.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is now investigating the incident. They are conducting interviews and procecssing what they call a "crime scene."
