NORTH ST. PAUL, Minn. - Seven students were arrested and five have been charged after a melee broke out at a North St. Paul high school. One person had to be sent to the hospital.
North St. Paul police Capt. Dustin Nikituk says fights broke out in several of the common areas at North High School Thursday. He describes the scene was chaotic.
Authorities say that four students, one 14 and three 15 years old, are charged with third-degree riot. The fifth, who is 16, is charged with obstructing the legal process. Details of the charges were not released because the students are juveniles.
A 14 and 15 year old students remain in custody pending further investigation.
Authorities say they don't know the motive for the fight.
The unidentified student taken to the hospital suffered non-life threatening injuries.
