MINNEAPOLIS - One firefighter was injured and a Minneapolis commerical property owner is picking up the pieces after a blaze that tore through a building on the 5300 block of Lyndale Avenue South Thursday night

Minneapolis Fire Marshal Perry Ebner says the three-alarm fire was well underway when crews arrived shortly before 6 p.m. There were customers inside both Diamond Lake Rental and Beeks Pizza, the businesses housed in the burning building, but they were able to escape.

Ebner says his firefighters tried to mount an interior attack but were quickly chased from the building. Eventually more than 30 firefighters were called to the scene to battle the blaze.

One firefighter was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center for an injury sustained from a fall as conditions were extremely icy. Officials say the firefighter is in stable condition.
