BLAINE, Minn. - Two days before President Obama comes to Minneapolis to discuss gun control, the White House released a photo Saturday of the President firing a gun.

It's in response to a week of requests after the President said Monday that he shoots skeet "all the time."

Doubters asked for proof.  The photo shows the President firing a shotgun at Camp David on his birthday, August 4.

So is it a hobby or a one-time thing?

If anyone knows skeet shooting, it's a group of friends who were at the Metro Gun Club in Blaine Saturday morning.  Among them were two members of the Minnesota Skeet Shooting Association.

We showed them the photo of Obama skeet shooting.

"I noticed a couple things right off.  First of all he shoots left handed.  And I could work with him a little bit on his form," said Scott Melchisedech, former president of the Minnesota Skeet Shooting Association.

Still, he said, the picture is believable.

"I believe that he shot skeet and if he does it and enjoys it, that's wonderful," he said.

Deon Thompson, the current Minnesota Skeet Shooting Association President, said it's also political.

The skeet shooters we spoke with worry gun control could become a slippery slope.  They would like President Obama to consult with sport shooters like themselves before any new legislation is passed.

But does the photo make Obama more relatable to those who want to protect their gun rights?

"I think a lot of people will just say that was a photo op," said Melchisedech.

President Obama will be discussing gun control with Minneapolis police and local leaders on Monday, February 4.
