FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. - Rescue crews have pulled a bakery truck back onto the highway after the vehicle and two people inside were left dangling off a bridge for hours Wednesday morning in Fort Lauderdale.
The scene played out for more than an hour Wednesday morning on westbound State Road 84 over northbound Interstate 95.
A collision between the bakery truck and another vehicle sent the truck crashing into the guardrail and off the roadway just before 6 a.m. Rescuers removed the driver from the Tracy Bakery truck while the cab was dangling over I-95 below, loaded him on a stretcher and took him to the hospital.
Rescue efforts then turned to reaching an unresponsive person in the truck. Unfortunately, media outlets in Miami are reporting that the second person in the truck died from his or her injuries.
The front of the truck was off the ramp, with the front pinned against a pillar. A large tow truck pulled the truck back over the guardrail onto the road shoulder of State Road 84 around 7:30 a.m.
