GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn -- This month's Medtronic Foundation segment focuses on the upcoming JDRF Walk to Cure Diabetes.
The fun, family-friendly event takes place on Sat, Feb 23 at Mall of America, and features plenty of entertainment and hope for a cure.
The doors open at 7:00 am, and at 8:00 am more than 22,000 people will stroll through the Mall of America followed by a celebration in the rotunda at 9:00 am. This year's fundraising goal is $2.2 million. To register visit walk.jdrf.org
JDRF is the largest non-government funder of type 1 diabetes (T1D) research driving advances across every stage of discovery, development and delivery pipeline from earliest research to human trials to new product launch. Type 1 diabetes is an auto immune disease that strikes both children and adults unrelated to diet or lifestyle. T1D causes lifelong dependence on injected insulin and carries the constant threat of devastating, life-threatening complications. 30,000 people are diagnosed every year.
