MAPLE GROVE, Minn. - The Osseo-Maple Grove Hockey Association will no longer pursue a vote of "no confidence" in Maple Grove High School hockey coach Gary Stefano.
Two motions that had previously been submitted for a vote at Sunday's board meeting have been pulled by the author, according to Board President Dennis Smith. Neither motion is on the Association's February meeting agenda.
KARE 11 reported the proposed motions earlier this week. The second motion called for the Osseo-Maple Grove Hockey Association (OMGHA) to distance itself from the high school program.
OMGHA has more than 900 young hockey players and is considered the "feeder program" for the high school hockey teams.
The proposed motions came after an incident in December at a private home that led to the suspensions of thirteen varsity and junior varsity hockey players on the Maple Grove High School team.
Coach Stefano was briefly put on administrative leave during the school district's investigation, but was reinstated a day later.
The school board has declined to give details of the incident due to Data Privacy laws.
The author of the motions declined to comment on why the motions were pulled.
