ELK RIVER, Minn. - A former Big Lake resident has been charged with more than a dozen counts of possession of child pornography after the discovery of what investigators call a "large volume" of sexually explicit images involving children.

Peter Michael Guevara, age 44, faces 17 counts of possession of child pornography. Guevara was a resident of the City of Big Lake at the time this investigation was initiated during the summer of 2012. Each count is a felony punishable with up to 5 years of imprisonment and or a $10,000 fine.

Big Lake Police began the investigation into Guevara's activities in June of 2012. The long term investigation lead to the seizure of several computers and data storage devices, and the execution of multiple search warrants, which
resulted in the recovery of a large volume of child pornography.

Evidence seized in the investigation included images and videos showing children in nude and sexually suggestive positions,
and in some instances, involved in sexual acts.

Authorities say Guevara is not currently in
custody. His first appearance has been scheduled for March 6 in
Sherburne County District Court.
