MINNEAPOLIS - The Sun Country Board of Directors has replaced Stan Gadek with an interim President and CEO.

The decision was announced on Wednesday.

Gadek served nearly five years as the leader of Sun Country Airlines. He guided the airlines through a recession and the downfall of former owner Tom Petters.

Gadek will be replaced by John Fredericksen on an interim basis.

"Our experienced management team, along with our dedicated Sun Country employees will ensure that our customers continue to have the excellent airline experience they have come to expect from the hometown airline," Fredericksen said in a statement.

Fredericksen has been with Sun Country for 10 years.
