GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - A teacher from Breck School is one of 26 nationwide who are flying this week aboard the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy, or SOFIA.
It's part of the Airborne Astronomy Ambassadors program giving teachers an opportunity to bring back cutting edge science to their students.
The teachers are flying out of Dryden Aircraft Operations Facility in Palmdale, California.
Teacher Chelen Johnson, who advises an astronomy club at Breck spoke to KARE 11 Sunrise via Skype about her upcoming flight.
