JORDAN, Minn. - Public schools in Jordan will soon become the workplace for city police officers.

"After Sandy Hook, we knew we needed to upgrade security district-wide," says Stacy DeCorsey, the principal of Jordan Elementary. "This is an innovative and unique stradegy."

Front-lobby offices are being installed for police officers in the elementary, middle, and high school and by spring officers will use the space as their primary office.

"This is a great partnership with the city," says DeCorsey. "To have that presence here at the entrance and to their car parked outside I think will be a benefit."

Jordan's police chief Bob Malz says "having police in schools will help with response times."
