MINNEAPOLIS - Minneapolis Police are looking for a known person of interest following the reported abduction of an 8-month old boy.
The child, identified as Carlos Orozco, was allegedly taken from an apartment on the 2100 block of Portland Avenue South. His mother tells investigators she left the boy in a car seat while she took a shower shortly before noon. The woman says when she came out of the bathroom the baby was gone.
Police are looking for a woman identified as Isabell Diaz Castillo, who is believed driving a 2002 red Kia Sportage with front end damage. The license plate number on the vehicle is 242-GAU.
Castillo is described as a recent friend of the mother, 5 feet 4 inches tall with a light build. She was last seen wearing a black hoodie, and may be in the company of her 12-year-old son.
Minneapolis Police Homicide Unit investigators are already assigned to this case and are asking for the public's help in locating Carlos, who is described as a Hispanic male dressed in a onesy with a blue and white body and red sleeves. On the chest is the logo "#1 Slugger".
Minneapolis Police spokesman Sgt. William Palmer first alerted the public with a brief tweet on the department's Twitter account. It reads:
"MPD working stranger abduction of 8 month old boy in P3 (third precinct). Details and photo to follow shortly."
Police later confirmed that a 911 call was made from that home on the 2100 block of Portland Avenue South. A woman told dispatchers that her 8-month-old boy was gone.
