MINNEAPOLIS - An 8-month old boy who was abducted from his home while his mother was taking a shower is safe and the person that took the boy is in custody, according to the Minneapolis Police Department.
An Amber Alert was issued Wednesday at about 4 p.m. after Carlos Orozco was reported missing.
Police said the boy was taken from an apartment on the 2100 block of Portland Avenue South. His mother tells investigators she left the boy in a car seat while she took a shower. The woman says when she came out of the bathroom the baby was gone.
Police have arrested Isabell Diaz Castillo, who is an acquaintance of the boy's mother.
Police said they learned that Castillo had been paying an inordinate amount of attention to the child recently.
Information was provided to the public and media through a number of sources and an Amber Alert was issued just before 4 p.m.
An anonymous 911 tip call directed officers to a residence in the 3700 block of 3rd Avenue South. The child was located safe in the basement of the residence and Castillo was arrested.
The residence reportedly belongs to a relative of Castillo's.
The child is being medically evaluated as a precaution and has been reunited with his mother.
