PARKERS PRAIRIE, Minn. - Authorities have named the pilot killed Wednesday night when his plane crashed in rural Otter Tail County.

The Otter Tail County Sheriff's Department says 41-year-old Adam Menze of Ottertail died when his Moule MXT-7 Starcraft airplane went down on a property off County Highway 40, just north of the town of Parkers Prairie.

The property owner told authorities he heard a loud noise just before 6:30 p.m., ran outside and found the badly-damaged plane.

Deputies say Menze sustained extensive trauma in the crash and did not survive the impact.

Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration are looking into the cause of the crash.
