MAPLEWOOD, Minn. -- Police are looking for a suspect after a 16-year-old girl was found dead early Saturday morning.
Police say they were called to the area of McKnight Road and Ripley Ave. in Maplewood around 4:30 a.m. to help a person needing medical attention. When they arrived, they found the teen dead at the scene and discovered evidence that leads them to believe the death is a homicide.
Authorities have not released the victim's identity, but family members tell KARE 11 the victim is 16 years old and attends North St. Paul High School.
Investigators say that a witness reported seeing man in the area around the time of the incident. He is described as Caucasian, about five feet, nine inches tall, with spiked blonde hair and wearing black sweatpants and a white hoodie-style sweatshirt.
Maplewood Police and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension continue to investigate the incident.
