DASSEL. Minn. -- A Silver Lake man is dead after his snowmobile collided with a train Saturday night.

The Meeker County Sheriff's Office says the accident happened just before 7 p.m. near the 600 block of Parker Avenue.

Authorities say a snowmobile driven by 31-year-old Paul Fenske was one of two snowmobiles traveling eastbound along the railroad tracks in Dassel.

Investigators say Fenske lost control, slid into the side of the train and was dragged down the tracks.  He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The second snowmobiler, an acquaintance of Fenske, wasn't injured.

The accident is under investigation by the Meeker County Sheriff's Office and the Burlington Northern/Santa Fe Railroad.
