WASHINGTON - The deadline to switch your paper check for social security, to an electronic payment method, is Friday, March 1.
If you collect social security, you now have to receive your benefits through direct deposit or loaded onto a direct express debit card.
If you haven't made the switch yet, you can do that online or if you have an account at a bank or credit union, you can go there personally and sign up for direct deposit.
Seniors born on or before May 1, 1921 can opt to still receive a paper check.
