MINNEAPOLIS - An assault with a handgun led to a police chase that ended when the suspect flipped his vehicle on Washington Street in Minneapolis late Saturday.
According to the police report, the incident happened about 11 p.m. Squads responded after someone called 911 claiming that a man had assaulted them with a handgun. When officers saw the suspect vehicle, the man fled and officers gave chase.
After a short pursuit the suspect lost control of the vehicle and rolled it, ending up on a sidewalk off Washington Street and 13th Avenue Northeast.
Officers recovered a handgun from the car, and soon learned that the suspect was prohibited from owning a gun.
The suspect was booked in the Hennepin County Jail for probable cause of fleeing police, assault with a dangerous weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm.
