DULUTH, Minn. - Authorities are holding a 17-year-old boy in the weekend stabbing death of a Duluth man who had served with the U.S. Army in Afghanistan.
The boy was being held Tuesday in the Arrowhead Juvenile Center on a preliminary charge of second-degree murder. Formal charges have not been filed.
Police announced the suspect's arrest but would not say if they had recovered the murder weapon or if the suspect and the victim knew each other.
Officers were called Saturday afternoon about an unresponsive man at a Duluth home. Police found the body of 27-year-old Bryan Alan Starnes, who lived in the home. An autopsy found Starnes had been stabbed to death.
The Duluth News Tribune reports Starnes received an honorable discharge after serving as a cavalry scout with the Army.
