NEW HOPE, Minn. - At least two busy streets in New Hope were shut down Thursday morning after a train hit a flatbed tow vehicle at a marked crossing.
Witnesses tell KARE 11 that the tow driver was apparently trying to beat the train and got clipped at the crossing, which is located at Winnetka Avenue North and 51st.
The train stopped after the collision, stretching across both Winnetka and Boone Avenues North. Drivers are advised to use Highway 169 to bridge the stretch between County Road 9/Rockford Road and Bass Lake Road.
Interestingly, the tow truck was at the scene because it was picking up a delivery truck that had rear-ended a school bus near the same crossing.
No injuries have been reported.
