FERGUS FALLS, Minn.- Minnesota transportation officials have reopened Interstate 94 between Fergus Falls and Alexandria after shutting it down earlier due to ice, crashes and vehicles off the road.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Minnesota State Patrol decided to close the 50-mile stretch early Friday. Parts of west central Minnesota are getting freezing rain and roads are in difficult driving condition.
State Patrol spokesman Sergeant Jesse Grabow tweeted that the decision was made after six separate crashes, two semi jackknifes and six vehicles off the road.
No word on when that busy stretch of interstate will be reopened.
