ST. CLOUD, Minn. - Police in St. Cloud have closed off traffic in a neighborhood on the city's north side while officers investigate a shooting.
Squads were dispatched at 10:45 a.m. to the 400 block of 17th Avenue North on reports of gunfire.
The St. Cloud Times reports that one person was shot and suffered non-life threatening injuries. Police are currently looking for a suspect. Police tape rings the block and squads from the State Patrol and Waite Park police are assisting St. Cloud officers.
Assistant Police Chief Sue Stawarski says investigators are talking to several people who were detained, but maintains that no one is officially in custody in connection with the shooting. Police are also asking people to stay away from the area of Second Street North to Fifth Street, from Cooper Avenue to 12th Avenue.
Nearby St. Cloud Technical High School was placed in containment mode due to the incident. Superintendent Bruce Watkins said police advised the school to be on alert, even though there is no indication there was an immediate threat.
During a containment classes go on as usual, but hallway traffic is limited. Hall passes are not given out to students.
The containment order was lifted shortly after noon.
