MAPLEWOOD, Minn. - Searchers have found bloody items with the DNA of missing St. Paul woman Kira Trevino, but her body has still not been found.
Prosecutors Friday filed an amended criminal complaint against Kira's husband Jeff Trevino.
Jeff Trevino is charged with two counts of murder in the second degree.
The new version of the complaint outlines that a searcher looking in Maplewood's Keller Lake found a plastic bag tied shut containing a bloody pillow, pillow case, sports bra, shirt and sponge. DNA analysis of the blood on the pillow matched Kira Trevino.
The complaint also says that dogs trained to detect dead bodies in water reacted to a hole in the ice on Keller Lake, indicating there might be a body in the water.
Dive crews from the St. Paul Police Department and the Ramsey County Sheriff's Office have recently searched underwater in Keller Lake after getting a tip that two men were seen struggling and dragging something in Keller Park the night the 30-year-old disappeared. While they did not find Kira's body, they did discover what they called an "item of interest."
Despite not finding the body, investigators have recovered many pieces of blood evidence from the Trevino home, enough to make prosecutors confident they can earn a conviction.
