MINNETONKA, Minn. - In celebration of the return of the Minnesota State Bird the Freshwater Society hosts its annual Ice Out/Loon In fundraiser on April 11 from 6PM - 9PM at the Lakeside Lafayette Club in Minnetonka Beach.
On Lake Minnetonka, the ice is designated as "out" when it is possible to travel by small boat from any one shore to another shore through any passage on the lake. This generally occurs in early spring and each year the Freshwater Society hosts its annual fundraiser in celebration of the transition in the seasons. The return of the loon to Minnesota waters is an event that has been recorded since 1855.
The Ice Out/Loon In event will feature a live auction, a presentation about Freshwater Society's water protection programs and the first annual Clean Water Campion Award will be presented in recognition of leadership in Community Clean-Ups for Water Quality.
