MINNEAPOLIS -- Family and friends are remembering Elyse Stern, a woman who was hit and killed by a drunk driver while she was bicycling on Saturday.
"I want people to know this is a huge loss. She was an amazing light" says close friend Linda Haug.
"She was a free spirit, loved her family dearly, and loved to bike."
Haug says Stern will be remembered as an adventurous person who lived life without fear.
The Hennepin County Medical Examiner says 28-year-old Stern of Minneapolis died from multiple blunt force injuries after she was struck by a car near the intersection of Lake Street East and Cedar Avenue South.
Witnesses provided police with a description of the vehicle they saw leaving the scene, and officers were able locate it near Franklin Avenue East and Bloomington Avenue South.
Authorities arrested a 27-year-old man, who they say showed signs of intoxication. He's currently being held in the Hennepin County Jail.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the accident and has not yet come forward to call the TIPS Line at 612-692-TIPS (8477).
