Twin Cities educator a finalist in Great American Teach-Off

MINNEAPOLIS - A Twin Cities educators is one of 4 across the country vying to win The Great American Teach-Off.

Chris Pennington has been chosen out of hundreds of nominations, and could receive a $10,000 grant and the opportunity to change the lives of their students and the face of education if he is chosen.

Pennington is a Learning Disabilities teacher at Edison High School in Minneapolis, Minnesota. His high school once housed facilities with commercial kitchens, a wood shop and an auto shop, but the programs were eliminated due to budget cuts.

Pennington helped to re-open Edison's wood shop. He wants to focus on resurrecting more vocational programs.
