GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. - School closings, iced windshields, snow blowers in front of the hardware store, just when winter appears to be over, some of those seasonal realities are returning.

"Some of the coats are put away. The boots are put away. Now, they're going to have to come back out," smiled Cassie Wells.

In Golden Valley, the street sweepers were out on Tuesday morning, but it's more likely snow plows will be on standby over the nex couple of days.

"We pulled the sweepers off because we had too much water in the curb line," explained Bert Tracy. "Now we're transitioning to our nice wonderful snow event we're having in April."

Rain turned to sleet and eventually to snow by noon in Golden Valley.

"I cleaned out. I cleaned out last weekend. I took all of the weight out of the back of the pickup and I'm sure a lot of people did," said Jim McKevitt. "It was nice enough to be outside especially on Sunday."

It was sunny and in the 50s over the weekend and now it's cold enough to snow on April 9.

"I heard roughly seven inches," laughed Wells. "I hope that everybody is lying about that though, because I don't want seven inches of snow."

KARE 11's Weather Department is forecasting 3 to 8 inches of snow by Thursday afternoon in the Metro.

"This is kind of really how our winters usually were," said McKevitt. "Everybody got kind of use to that long nice dry spring. This is kind of what it should be like in Minnesota. I think they forgot.

It's easy to forget when you would rather not remember.
