MINNEAPOLIS - New University of Minnesota (U of M) Gophers men's basketball coach Richard Pitino has taken a step in filling out his staff.
The U of M announced Wednesday that Mike Balado and Kimani have joined Pitino's staff as assistant coaches. Both were with Pitino at Florida International University.
"I am excited about the additions of coach Balado and coach Young to our staff at the University of Minnesota," said Pitino. "Both of these guys played a huge part in our turnaround at Florida International. They are well respected within the coaching community as terrific recruiters and leaders of student-athletes."
Mike Baldano played college ball at St. Thomas University in Miami and Warner Southern College. He has coached at Augusta State University, Miami Dade College, Florida Atlantic University, University of Miami, High Point University and Florida International.
Kimani Young starred on the court at the University of Texas-El Paso before coaching at St. John's University and Florida International.
