RED WING, Minn. - Police are trying to trace the events that led to the discovery of a baby's body by a laundry worker in Red Wing Tuesday.

Officers were called to the Crothal laundry just before 12:30 p.m. after the infant's body tumbled out of a bed sheet that was being prepared for cleaning. The baby had a tag on its ankle and was wearing a diaper.

The linens that the baby was wrapped in originated at Regions Hospital in St. Paul. The sheets  lhad been delivered to the laundry service within 48 hours.

Red Wing Police requested assistance from the St. Paul Police Department, and investigators soon learned that the child, a male, was stillborn on April 4. The infant was then place in the Regions Hospital Morgue.

Police are still trying to determine how the baby ended up in the sheet that was shipped to the Red Wing laundry, but Red Wing Police Chief Roger Pohlman says there is no indication of foul play.
