ST. PAUL, Minn. - State emergency management officials are reminding residents that Thursday marks Minnesota's annual Tornado Drill Day.
As part of Minnesota's yearly Severe Weather Awareness Week sirens will sound in many areas and municipalities at 1:40 p.m., and again at 6:55 p.m.
The National Weather Service (NWS) will also issue a simulated Tornado Warning. At those times NOAA Weather Radio receivers will switch on and the outdoor warning sirens in many areas will be activated.
Emergency preparedness officials urge that when residents hear the mock warnings they should think about an action plan and the steps a family should take to stay safe during an actual tornado.
