SHAKOPEE, Minn. - Police say one person is dead and two are hospitalized with injuries after a shooting overnight in Shakopee.
Police say the shooting doesn't appear to be a random act of violence.
Officers were called to the Hunters Ridge Apartments in Shakopee around 10:45 Thursday night. Inside the apartment they found three victims, one of whom died from a gunshot injury.
Police say the man who died, 19-year-old Marcos Antino Pantaleon of Shakopee, was dead at the scene.
Pantaleon was a student at Shakopee High School. "Friends describe him as a student with lots of personal pride," said Shakopee High School Principal Kim Swift. "He had planned to attend college and become an auto mechanic."
There were five other people in the apartment at the time. Pantaleon's 22-year-old brother and 17-year-old male cousin were wounded and taken to Hennepin County Medical Center. Police say the others were uninjured.
Three men were seen leaving the scene. At this time Shakopee Police are not saying if anyone has been arrested in the shooting. They do insist there is no danger to the general public.
Investigators from the Scott County Sheriff's department, Shakopee and Savage police and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) are currently processing the scene.
