WAUSAU, Wis. - A Wisconsin man is charged with first degree murder after a severed head belonging to a Minnesota man was found in a car, and other body parts were found in a Milwaukee home.
Kou Thao, a 26-year-old man from Wausau, is being held on $1 million cash bond, and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing May 1.
The suspect's brother-in-law told investigators that Thao and the victim, 58-year-old Tong Pao Hang of St. Paul, were in the basement of a Wausau home Wednesday when a gunshot rang out.
The brother-in-law went downstairs and found Hang in a pool of blood.
Thao left the scene and was later arrested in Milwaukee.
Online court records didn't list a defense attorney for Thao on Tuesday. A message left with the public defender's office wasn't immediately returned.
