MINNEAPOLIS - Minneapolis police have arrested a suspect believed to be responsible for the death of another man following a street fight in early March.
Officers responded to a report of a fight outside of a restaurant on the 2700 block of East Lake Street just before 1 p.m. March 4. There they found city resident Jimmy Herron suffering from what he described as a medical condition that existed before the fight he was involved in.
The other party in the fight had left the scene, and Herron did not want police service. He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center by ambulance. Police were later notified that he had passed away.
A ruling by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office deemed Herron's death a homicide, and was that Mr. Herron's death was a homicide and Minneapolis investigators embarked on a search for a suspect.
Just after 4 p.m. Tuesday officers from the Minneapolis Violent Criminal Apprehension Team, acting on information from homicide investigators, arrested the 29-year-old suspect on the 400 block of University Avenue East in St. Paul. He remains held in the Hennepin County Jail.
