SHAKOPEE, Minn. - First responders are on the scene of a reported industrial explosion and fire along the Minnesota River in Shakopee.
Calls started coming in to Scott County Sheriff's and Shakopee Police dispatchers shortly before 1 p.m. Shakopee Police confirm that callers were reporting an explosion in the vicinity of Rahr Malting and Koda Energy.
KARE 11 reporter Lindsey Seavert says that the explosion was in a tank at Koda Energy, a biomass fuel company co-owned by Rahr Malting and the Mdewakanton Sioux. The planted is located in the same compound as the Rahr Malting complex.
A spokesperson for Scott County says 17 employees were working at the time of the explosion, none of whom suffered injuries.
A Shakopee resident reported on Twitter that "our office building shook on Shumway St. and we saw smoke and then squad cars raced by."
Shakopee is about 14 miles south of Minneapolis.
