Report: Timberwolves to fire Kahn, Saunders to replace him

MINNEAPOLIS - According to a report by NBA.com Timberwolves President of Basketball Operations David Kahn is expected to be fired and former head coach Flip Saunders is expected to replace him.

Senior NBA writer Steve Aschburner reports that Saunders is expected to return to the Timberwolves as the next president.  The report surfaced around 10 a.m. Friday.

Aschburner says the move could happen as early as next week.

Sports director Eric Perkins contacted the team and they said they were aware of the report but were unable to confirm at this time.

Kahn was with the Timberwolves for four years with an 89-223 record.

Saunders is currently an NBA analyst with ESPN.  He had previously been a head coach in Minnesota, Detroit and Washington.
