Shooting in St. Paul leaves victim fighting for life

ST. PAUL, Minn. - A St. Paul woman  is being treated for life-threatening injuries after police say she was shot by her adult son.

Officers were called to the 400 block of Robie Street East on a woman shot in her home just before 5 a.m.

First responders found 66-year-old Ester Munoz Richards suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Her 32-year-old son was also on the scene.  

Richards was rushed to Regions Hospital with what police called life-threatening injuries. She is described as being conscious.

The victim's son was taken into custody and booked at the Ramsey County Jail on first degree assault charges. Police continue to investigate what happened moments before the shooting took place.
