EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. - As police and volunteers continue to search for 24-year-old Mandy Matula, sho has been missing since Wednesday night, we're learning more about the man police are calling a person of interest in the case.
Investigators say 24-year-old David Roe was in a relationship with Matula, but say that relationship ended recently. They say the two were still speaking to each other.
Investigators say Roe drove to the Eden Prairie Police station to talk with police Thursday. Those investigators on surveillance camera that Roe had a gun. They say he turned the weapon on himself, and was rushed to Hennepin County Medical Center. A spokesperson for HCMC told KARE they have "no information on him."
Roe was an Eden Prairie graduate. The University of St. Thomas did confirm that Roe attended the school from 2007 to 2009, and played football for the Tommies in 2007.
A neighbor of Roe's mother said he often visited his mother at her Eden Prairie home.
"Very close, the first thing you would see at the doorway was a big hug every time," said neighbor Gene Inett.
Inett called Roe very polite, nice and the last person you'd think would be involved in such a tragedy.
Police have searched multiple parks in hopes of finding Matula. As of friday evening they had nothing to report.
Meanwhile, police say Roe cannot communicate with them.
