RIVER FALLS, Wis. - Boyd Huppert has long been considered a rock star in the halls of KARE 11 and throughout the broadcast industry.
Well now, it seems his alma matter is taking measures to recognize his journalistic feats.
Huppert, a 1984 graduate of UW-River Falls (UWRF) and an award-winning writer and reporter for KARE 11 has been selected as the school's 2013 Distinguished Alumnus.
A 17-year veteran of the Twin Cities airwaves, Huppert has had his work shown many times on NBC, CNN and network affiliates across America. He has won numerous awards including a national Emmy for feature reporting, more than 60 regional Emmys, eight national Edward R. Murrow Awards, three national Sigma Delta Chi Awards, three Gabriel Awards, six National Press Photographers Association awards, and a National Headliner Grand Award.
Boyd is also an active educator himself, teaching workshops on broadcast writing and reporting across the globe.
