ST. PAUL, Minn. --  With eleven words, the uncertainty, ended.

"Today we can confirm that the search for Kira Trevino is over," St. Paul Police Senior Commander Brian Coyle told reporters late Thursday afternoon.

A person who worked at Upper River Services on the south side of the Mississippi River in St. Paul between Robert Street and Highway 52 noticed something near the shore Wednesday afternoon and called 911.

That something turned out to be the body of Kira Trevino.

While it was the outcome no one wanted, it was the outcome that was expected.

"I just want to say that this is not a day to celebrate. This is a day when Kira's loved ones or family and those who care about her can finally know where Kira is. It's a day for the investigators who have felt the immense responsibility to find her for the sake of her family and for justice," Coyle said.

This finality was a long time coming for all.

Searches for Kira happened every weekend since she was last seen in February.

More than 200 of you called in tips to investigators.

Hundreds more joined the effort to find her.

Why?

Because like Kira's own family asked from day one, Kira should be brought home.

"To the family I just want to say I realize that this is a day of extreme mixed emotions. I'm glad that we found her for you but I'm sure that the sense of loss is deepened by what has happened and I just want to say that our hearts and minds are with you and I hope that you will be ok," Coyle said.

Jeffrey Trevino, Kira's husband, remains in the Ramsey County Jail charged with her murder.

His trial is scheduled to begin May 28.
