ST. PAUL, Minn. - A Ramsey County Judge has pushed back the starting date for the Jeffery Trevino murder trial.

Trevino is charged with second degree murder in the death of his wife, 30-year-old Kira Steger. She disappeared in February, and Kira's body was recovered from the Mississippi River last week.

The judge in the case set the new trial date for July 22, pushing it back because Kira's body was found May 8, and a full autopsy will take six weeks to perform. Additionally it will take 4 weeks for the BCA to conduct DNA analysis.

Both the prosecution and defense will be required to submit discovery evidence by June 21st.

An updated criminal complaint filed Tuesday revealed that investigators found divorce papers in Kira's purse, which was discovered inside her car in a Mall of America parking lot.

The updated complaint also says the couple had given notice to give up their rented St. Paul home, and that Steger was looking for her own apartment.

There is also evidence that she had texted a man she'd been romantically linked to on February 21, the night she was last seen alive.

Jeffery Trevino has pleaded not guilty to murder in the death of his wife.

Kira Steger's family and friends filled the courtroom Wednesday, wearing shirts that read "You will always be remembered." Jeffery Trevino's family was in the courtroom as well today.
