ELK RIVER, Minn. - Law enforcement and volunteers searched on land, in water and from the air on Saturday in the hopes of finding a missing two-year-old girl.

Daisy Jo Holland of Zimmerman went missing Friday evening during a camping trip in Elk River with her family. The adults were getting their campsite ready at Wapiti Park Campground when they noticed Daisy was gone. They called police around 8:15 p.m.

After getting word of Daisy's disappearance, more than 200 volunteers showed up Saturday to help search for the girl. Police organized the volunteers from the Gateway Church parking lot next door. They were sent out to various locations within a 2-mile radius around the campground.

"We're searching neighborhoods, anywhere a two-year-old may be, playground equipment, anything a two-year-old may get under or in," said Lt. Sam Olson of the Big Lake Police Department.

Karen Heikkila was one of the volunteers. Her daughter knows Daisy's family. "I'm walking and praying," Heikkila said. "I'm hoping I find her healthy and just a little scared."

On Saturday, the Sherburne County Water Patrol and other agencies searched the Elk River and Orono Lake, into which the Elk River flows. Elk River Police Captain says dogs brought in to help in the search have made "strong indications along the riverbank area."

Police said the Elk River is shallow in many places, but there are some parts that quickly drop off. All the recent rain has the current moving fast.

Police are exploring every possibility, including foul play, although at this point police said there are no strong indicators to lead them in that direction.

"Any time a two-year-old girl is missing we have great concern... and we are looking at every angle," said Elk River Police Chief Bradley Rolfe.

Police say they are continuing the searches into the night. Right now, they don't need any more volunteers or extra supplies.
