GOLDEN VALLEY, Minn. -- It seems as though we've had too many gloomy days this May. So we ran through the numbers and as it turns out, there have been a few more cloudy days than usual this May when compared to previous Mays. But this year hasn't been the rainiest nor the cloudiest month of May in recent history.

The ten year average gives us nine cloudy days in the month. This year we've had 14 so far. We go back to May 2005 to find a cloudier May, when we had 18 days classified as cloudy. Last year there were just six.

The rain hasn't helped. We've had measurable rain 15 days so far this month, which has amounted to almost 5". The ten year average is 12 rainy May days totaling 2.56". Of course temperatures play a role.

This month's average temperature near 57 degrees, however, is only about a degree cooler than normal.
