MINNEAPOLIS -- School officials say no one was injured when a student accidentally discharged a gun outside of Bethune Community School.
The incident happened around 3 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, just before students were being dismissed for the day.
A school district spokesperson says the gun was discharged from inside a student's backpack. According to officials, very few students were present when the gun went off.
A School Messenger phone message was sent to Bethune families informing them of the incident after school dismissed.
Due to student data privacy, and because police are actively investigating, the district isn't able to share more information about the incident.
